About The Association

Chaw'se Indian Grinding Rock Association is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization that supports Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park, one of the most important Native American historic sites in California.

Formed in 1983, Chaw'se Indian Grinding Rock Association continues to expand our programs and offerings to our community. 

Since forming as a not-for-profit IRS 501(c)(3) corporation in 1983, the Chaw'se Association has assisted in enhancing visitors' exploration and enjoyment of Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park.

The Chaw'se Indian Grinding Rock Association

  • Raises money for the park through fundraising, special events, grants, and donations
  • Offers tours to children and adults
  • Generates income through the bookstore in the Chaw’se Regional Indian Museum
  • Supports projects to preserve historic buildings and maintain park facilities

 

The Chaw'se Indian Grinding Rock Association is a 501(c)(3) organization and your donations are tax deductible. All of the funds we raise go towards enhancing Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park.

Our Mission

The Chaw'se Indian Grinding Rock Association is dedicated to the interpretation, education, preservation, and protection of Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park, and we accomplish our mission by assisting California State Parks to achieve these goals.

Our Vision

In this beautiful and peaceful setting, visitors to Chaw'se Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park will experience an accurate reflection of the traditions of the Native American people within the scope of the Chaw'se Regional Indian Museum. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the grounds, museum, visitor center, bookstore, and attend special events and programs specifically designed to enhance the understanding of the California regional tribal culture and preserve it for future generations.

Board of Directors

Chaw'se Indian Grinding Rock Association Board of Director meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month, except December, at the Chaw'se Regional Museum at 1:00 PM. They are open to the public. The agenda and minutes are posted at the museum downstairs outside by the door.
